Engineering 101

In the Engineering 101 design lab the students learn about completing circuits to make a successful alarm system, the importance of a stable structure when building and the essential element of teamwork in group projects. During the first days in this design lab the students put their building skills to the test in a team card tower building competition. The students got fifty cards, the tower had to be at least one foot tall and hold one hundred grams of water. Now the students are learning the elements of building a working alarm system. Alexis Lew, a student from the Engineering 101 design lab said, “My design lab seems pretty fun and enjoyable. I like what we are learning so far. We have learned about engineering skills. I also like the tower thing.” As you can see, the Engineering 101 design lab is a fun and interesting place for students to learn the basics of engineering.
